B.A. Chinese Language and Literature, The Ohio State University, Cum Laude. My research and courses were mainly in Chinese folkore and performing arts, particularly Chinese Opera and dramatic literature. Theoretically I have extensive training in anthropology, sociology, and folklore studies. I study text (broadly defined) as pieces of anthropological inquiry.
Experience
I have 3 years teaching and tutoring experience working with children and adults ages 5+. I focus on developing strong conversational abilties and reading skills. I use original language sources to teach language skills and introduce students to the richness of Chinese culture. I find that students learn quicker and retain more when they study something IN Chinese in which they are interested, be it pop music, art or kung fu.
