Private tutor in Columbus, OH
Education
I hold a Ph.D. and M.A. in Philosophy from The Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C. My studies focused especially on logic, philosophy of nature, and ancient and medieval philosophy, and included a course in Latin paleography. I received my B.A. (Summa cum laude) in philosophy with a classics minor from Christendom College, in Front Royal, VA. I have been studying Latin since I was in fourth grade, and received a 5 (out of 5) on the Latin AP exam in high school.
Experience
I have taught philosophy, Latin, logic, and geometry at the college level and math at the middle school level. My first formal tutoring job, in the summer of 2014, was helping a high school student learn geometry. I have extensive experience working individually with students, helping them learn to write well, and enabling them to take control of their own learning. I especially enjoy working with students individually. My publications have appeared in the International Philosophical Quarterly, the Review of Metaphysics, The Thomist, and the Proceedings of the American Catholic Philosophical Association.

Hobbies
One of my biggest interests is reading: I enjoy both philosophy and literature. Some of my favorite authors are (for fiction) J. R. R. Tolkien, P. G. Wodehouse, and Leo Tolstoy, and (for non-fiction) Thomas Aquinas, Plato, Josef Pieper, and Wendell Berry. I love music, and play the guitar and organ. I also enjoy bicycling, camping, and tinkering with electronics.
