Experience
I have a bachelor's degree in English and journalism with a minor in Spanish. I also have a master's degree in education. Both of these degrees were acquired with a 3.9 GPA. I offer my tutoring services in the subjects of English, Spanish, reading, and writing. I want to help my students focus on actually comprehending the material they are being taught rather than merely memorizing the material. To do this, connections must be drawn between my students' work, social, and school lives. I give them the tools needed to help them understand how the material they're learning relates to their own personal lives. Once they begin to notice the relation, they then can begin to understand the concepts being taught in a broader context. When a student cannot relate to the information they are being taught, they tend to lose interest and become less motivated in the learning process. When teaching, I want students to learn about so much more than the subject they're currently studying. I want them to learn about their own individuality and the world surrounding them. I have experience tutoring students of all ages. I also have experience as a mentor, teacher, and camp counselor. When I am not tutoring or teaching, I can be found performing yoga or hula hooping. I also love music and am a decent flutist.
