I'm from Ann Arbor, Michigan and have a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University, where I majored in political science and women's studies and minored in history. This year I'm starting a J.D./M.A. dual degree in law and education policy. I'm currently teaching high school reading, and I coach speech and debate. I am certified to teach physical science, earth-space science and English language arts. I have also taught Algebra 2. I've tutored and taught for over six years in various areas, but my favorite subjects to tutor are writing, reading, and literature analysis. I have worked for a number of years with remedial students and with students working above their grade level who need a challenge. I know that all students have different interests and learning styles, and I try to customize my tutoring sessions for each student. I'm approachable and energetic, encouraging my students to speak up and to ask questions. I'm often told that my explanations are direct and clear. My students frequently express surprise at the amount they have learned in such a short time. In my spare time, I like to read, paint, practice yoga, go kayaking and jogging (but not running!), and I love to make puns.
