Experience
I'm a tutor and enjoy helping students learn Mandarin Chinese and English as a second language. I've seven years of experience as a teacher and tutor both stateside and in China. I'm currently working on my master's degree in Chinese language teaching, and I'm looking forward to becoming a professor in the future. I believe tutoring is the best way for students to learn, because tutors can focus on the individual needs and learning style of the student in a comfortable environment without judgment. I help students develop language skills through conversation, games, activities, reading, and more. I attended Oberlin College to earn my bachelor's degree in Classics. After graduation I spent two years teaching ESL in China. I've also taken several Chinese immersion courses, been the assistant director of the Chinese Language Academy, and been a translator and Chinese language consultant for Yale University. I'm looking forward to helping students improve their understanding of language. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, swimming, and biking.
