Experience
Tutored General Chemistry for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (The Ohio State University) for 1 year. General Chemistry TA (taught/supervised laboratory) at The Ohio State University for 2 years. Private tutoring (primarily college students, but some high school) for 2 years. I have a great depth of experience with the General Chemistry programs at The Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College, tutoring up to 17 students in a single semester. If you have a friend(s) that you are taking a course with and would like to partake in a group tutoring session, I offer these as well. I do permit students to split the cost of a group tutor session with a friend, but I will need to be informed of this matter prior to the tutoring session. In the past, I have tutored up to three students during a single session. As for my tutoring methods, normally I will give a brief summary on the material and explain the key points and then ask if the tutee has any questions. After the tutee's questions have been answered, I will pick relevant practice problems from the chemistry textbook or create problems myself if appropriate. I will allow the tutee to attempt the problem, and if he/she is having trouble, I will give them a hint/guide them in the right direction. After completing the problem, either alone or with my aid, I will summarize how the problem was completed, step by step, and will emphasize any key points that may be helpful to the tutee. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your academic goals!
