Hobbies

I am an avid reader and always try to be in the middle of a book. I have a 4 (almost 5!) year old puppy who enjoys walks and catching treats. I completed the improv curriculum at The Nest Theatre in Columbus, OH. As part of the graduation from The Nest Theatre, I had to perform in my very first improv show! I'm learning Italian on my own and in May 2017 I was able to travel to Rome, Florence, Positano and Salerno and it was a great experience. I also like to cook - burritos, pastas, salads and smoothies are my specialties. Science is also a hobby, particularly physics, so my PhD work at Ohio State was actually a lot of fun. I spend a lot of time outside with my dog when it's warm, and I like to ride bikes and rock climb. I'm perpetually learning more and more about fixing up bikes as well. I also like to program computer programs in my spare time - one I wrote is a quiz maker and actually helps me learn new subjects. I've recently become more and more interested in world history and usually listen to a history podcast while walking around. I've worked as a teaching assistant for university physics classes since 2011. I really enjoy talking with students and helping them understand physics and mathematics. I think physics is a really wonderful subject where great ideas are tested and in the end we learn about the laws of nature. I'd be happy to get the chance to discuss physics with you!
