I received undergraduate degrees from Ohio University in Russian and Biological Sciences. As a student, I had the opportunity to be a peer tutor, teaching assistant, and peer adviser. These teaching positions gave me valuable insight into the many different ways other students learn. With this, I was able to learn teaching strategies and study skills that are most effective for the various learning styles.I have an eclectic educational background. Because of this, I am able to tutor a wide variety of courses, including biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, Russian, Spanish 1 & 2, essay writing and editing, general biology, science, general chemistry, technology and computer science, and English.When I'm working with students, I focus on specific problems with which the student has been struggling. I find this to be the quickest way to discern their strengths and observe the areas where they are having the greatest difficulty. Once these have been established, it is easier to choose the specific teaching strategies that will work best.During my free time, I enjoy lifting weights, biology, computer programming, reading, and spending time with friends.
