Private tutor in Columbus, OH

Education

I am a first-year graduate student in the sociology program at The Ohio State University. In May of 2015, I graduated from the University of Miami, earning a B.A. in criminology and a B.A. in Spanish, with minors in education and history. I graduated summa cum laude with general honors and a 4.0/4.0 GPA. Because of my versatile studies and my training in education, I make a great tutor!

Experience

I started tutoring in high school, both at the Academic Resource Center for my peers and as a private tutor for elementary and middle school students. I loved it so much that I continued tutoring during my undergraduate years at college. I worked in the Academic Resource Center with the general student body as well as for the Athletics Department as a student athlete tutor. Additionally, I tutored privately in the Miami area for all four years of my undergraduate studies. Additionally, as part of my education minor I worked in elementary schools during various semesters. I often helped current teachers by working with students who have special needs or need additional assistance, and I have been trained in working with students who have special needs. I have worked with students of all ages, levels, and with a variety of special needs, so I am prepared to assist any type of student. In addition, my education classes have given me formal training in the best way to teach academic material to students of varying abilities and to students with disabilities. Besides tutoring, I was very involved on campus and in the Coral Gables community as a whole. For example, I was a member of UM's general honors program and a member of four other honors societies: Golden Key International Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society, Future Educators Honors Association, and National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). I was an executive board member of NSCS, working as both the secretary and the liaison between UM's chapter and the national office during my first year, and as Vice President for Events during my second year. I was also a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami and had the chance to work with two little sisters, helping them to develop both academic and social skills. I am looking forward to getting involved in the Columbus community! Lastly, I have received various awards for academic excellence, including the L.J. Tremaine Advanced Spanish Scholarship, President's Honor Roll at the University of Miami for eight consecutive terms, the Bryce Finley Ryan Award for Academic Excellence in Criminology, and the David John Ruggiero Scholarship for a distinguished course of study in Italian.

Hobbies

Just a quick blurb about me: I grew up in Acton, Massachusetts, and graduated high school after only three years. I then moved to Miami, where I completed my undergraduate degrees at the University of Miami. After graduating I decided to further my studies, and I am now beginning the PhD program in the Ohio State University's sociology department. I am extremely outgoing and love kids, and I have worked as both a tutor and a babysitter since the beginning of high school. I love running, travelling, water sports, reading, cooking, and spending time with my family. I have two sisters, one older and one younger, a dog, a cat, and a turtle.
